Recorded by Matt Talbott near Champaign, Illinois at Earth Analog Studio in 1999. Jason Russo had previously known Matt because Hum and Mercury Rev had toured together and our friend Jeremy Sidner had told us about Matt's new studio outside of Champaign. We left an off day after our show at the Highdive so that Hopewell could record a song with Matt. Details are hazy at best but I remember the space having a real 1970's feel to it, with wood paneling and a glass vocal booth. We learned that some of the original SNL crew used to record / rehearse there, The Blues Brothers, 2nd City folks. Anyway, the plan was to release this song after the tour, however false flags, the circumstances surrounding turning 30 years old and various career changes put this song on the shelf until now. I still love hearing this track almost 25 years later. I hope you enjoy it as well. -Mike Soderling 2024
