(Justin Russo) Re: the cover: I made this record cover in college and it was the 2nd time I’d ever used Photoshop, and I remember loving the fonts. I wanted so badly for this cover to look like "Chasing a Bee'! But, alas, all I had was the love of Vivaldi. (Jason Russo) I think the cover is a picture of Dalia's, possibly of her niece or nephew? This era of the band was very playful. The peak expression of this line-up. We were at our most democratic. Much of it was recorded on the fly, on tour, usually in Kansas. Our U.S. label, Priapus, was based there and all of our tours included a gig at The Bottleneck or some other Lawrence venue. I'd met Mike and Troy after a Mercury Rev show in Kansas City. I think. I'm told. I don't remember it, I just know that when I came home from that tour there were letters and phone calls from them talking about a Hopewell release. This cover, the entire EP really, is an homage to childhood. Something that had recently ended for us. As a first EP it did pretty well, I'll never forget when I'd heard the Flaming Lips were playing it to their audiences before shows. Everything was so strange back then, I always felt like we were failing. But in retrospect, we were just another indie band making weird little jams.
