Recorded in Lawrence KS with Brad Whitaker at Egoless in the Spring of 1997. Whitaker had recently purchased some used 8 track reel to reel tape in order to stay within his modest studio budget. While mixing down the Anthema track, Whitaker and the Russo brothers discovered the gospel vocal track on this version. The Gospel vocals and the Hopewell tracks are left as they were found on the tape, in other words, no tracks were over dubbed after the vocals were discovered. It felt spooky at the time, now it just feels like another kismet along the way. This version is a recording of the out of print, one sided 12" split single w/ Planetarium, originally released by Priapus in 1999. It was transferred into digital format by a KJHK DJ and shared with Jason Russo sometime around 2008, if I'm not mistaken. Analog tape to DAT to Vinyl to WAV. The pops from the turntable seem appropriate here. -Mike Soderling 2024
